Snow Totals
One of the many things that made the 2022-2023 ski season so memorable was the impressive snowfall! This year, the snow total more than tripled last year's total. In fact, we broke a record for the most snow in 49 years! 93 wonderful days of snow brought the seasonal total to 612 inches! Each day of this year's storms dropped up to 23 inches of snow. It was a fabulous season for snow sports.
Even the spring skiing was fantastic! Due to the insane snowfall, Park City was able to push its closing date back twice- ending on the latest closing date in 30 years!
Season Highlights
Sundance Film Festival
Sundance Film Festival is one of the biggest annual events in Park City. Every year, it draws in many celebrities and film fans alike. This year was extra special, as it was the first full, in-person festival since 2020. Attendees got to view a number of upcoming releases, participate in Q&As, and enjoy other events. The 2024 festival will take place January 18-28. Start making your plans today!
Freestyle International Ski World Cup
At the beginning of February, Deer Valley Resort hosted elite athletes from around the world at the famed Freestyle International Ski World Cup for the 25th year in a row! Competitors tackle moguls and aerials in the hopes of making it to the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships. It is thrilling every year! Midway Ice Castles
The popular Midway Ice Castles held their longest season ever year, staying open from December 21, 2022 until February 25, 2023. More than 100,000 people came to see and explore the incredible ice fortresses!
Super Pond Championship
On April 8th, 2023, Park City hosted their annual Eagle Super Pond Championship competition. During this pond skimming contest, costume-clad contestants tried to cross a pond on skis or a snowboard! It was both thrilling and hilarious. Check out some of the crash highlights online!
