One of the best parts about the spring time leading into summer in any mountain area is going for a hike while all the wild flowers are in bloom. In Park City there are several coveted hikes that many people love to go on to see great wildlife, flowers, and get in some exercise. There are so many different options for hiking all throughout Park City with some hikes only being about a mile round trip, all the way to multiple mile hikes that can have you backpacking in to get to your destination. Depending on your skills and how much time you have for a hike, Park City will have something special for you.
If you are looking for short hike with a beautiful lake, look no further than the Cecret Lake Trail. With only being 1.7 miles out and back, this trail is great if you are crunched on time, or you do not hike all too often. However, parking here is extremely limited making going here on weekends a bit tricky. Plan accordingly, and maybe save this hike for a weekday adventure to avoid crowds on the weekends. Wildflowers here are plentiful and the views breathtaking. Come here to take it all in and enjoy what nature has to offer.
Another great hike located a bit outside Park City is the Twin Lakes Trail. This hike is 2.3 miles out and back located in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Make sure to go early morning, or maybe have a later afternoon hike since this area gets crowded. Understandably so, the lakes here are gorgeous and many people frequent this hike on the regular for its’ short distance and great views. This hike is ranked as easy.
There are so many places to explore around Park City. Another hike that is close by is the Gamble Oak Loop. This hike is 3.9 miles and starts on a paved road with a very moderate increase in elevation of only 623 ft. The loop takes you around a scenic view of the downtown city as well as views of the mountains. Hiking this easy trail is a great way to spend a day in the sunshine in Park City.
Where ever you do decide to go hiking, make sure to plan accordingly. The summer gets very hot in Park City, so always make sure to carry plenty of water with you. Also, always make sure to pack an extra layer for warmth especially if you like hiking in the evening. Temperatures in high altitudes drop quickly once the sun starts to go down. Hiking through Park City will surely make lasting memories and the natural beauty will be amazing.
