Miles of Views and Hikes in Park City

July 11, 2020

If enjoying the great outdoors exploring hiking trails in the western mountains is on your list of activities this summer, then check out Park City, UT.  The variety and access to hiking and biking trails that cater to every level is unparalleled to other mountain towns.  From toddlers, big kids, to the expert adults, grandparents and more,  you will find something for everyone.

Below are my favorite hiking trails to enjoy in the summertime starting with an easy accessible trails.

The Lost Prospector Trail is on the ridge-line above the town of Park City and will provide incredible views of the ski area and valley below.  Lost Prospector is a mild hike that can be done as an out and back, or can be made into a loop when combining with the Rail Trail, Gambel Oak and Masonic trail.  To access Lost Prospector Trail, search for Aerie Drive where the parking lot is a short drive.

Another great trail option close to town is the Round Valley Trail System.  The trail is located northwest of Main Street also near the Park City Mountain Resort.  Round Valley Trail system has over 30 miles of beautiful trails to explore on 700 acres.  It is a perfect trail system for all levels.  The beginner/intermediate hikers can walk on the easier trails and turn back at any point.  If looking for more miles to explore, the intermediate to more advanced hikers can continue on and truly cover hefty miles.  The views are beautiful and pups will enjoy being off leash.

Wind down a hot summer day by enjoying a sunset hike on PC Hill.  The trail is still apart of the Round Valley Trail System, however the PC Hill is a shorter hike with a quick elevation gain.  Be prepared for a steeper hike, however it is short and the views at the top are worth every step.  Parking is directly below the PC Hill, off of Kearns Boulevard/248 and across from Wyatt Earp Way.

Like any activity in the mountains, bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and layers.  Temperatures heat up quick and also cool down quick.  Storms can roll in at any point, which is a reminder to check the forecast and bring a rain layer.

Enjoy the trails and pure beauty of Park City this summer.  For more information, check out www.parkcity.me.
